I am eternally grateful that I live in Oregon and have the privilege of having some of the worlds greatest wines at my fingertips. It has become a tradition to wine taste every Memorial Day weekend since so many winery's open and have glorious spreads of food and vino for their patrons. One of my dearest friends has her parents visit Portland over the long weekend, and we take a day to explore and enjoy all the the Oregon wine country has to offer.
First we went into Carlton and tasted at the Ken Wright winery where we enjoyed some delicious Chardonnay and some Pinot Noir straight from the barrels. Not to mention there were some handsome men teaching us about the good years for growing and the terrible rains of 2007.
While in Carlton we walked along the quaint street to a small winery called Scott Paul. Here we discovered, from Scott himself, that he created the number 9 wine out of all the wines made in 2010. Can you say WOW! He is also one of the lead importers of champagne and burgundy for the U.S.
Making our way to the third, and only winery we visit every year, Patricia Green Cellars. Welcomed by dogs, and a laid back soundtrack of Coldplay like music, we sipped on at least 10 different wines, and noshed on truffle cheese and handfuls Marcona almonds...yummmmm! I picked up a gem of a bottle of wine here too! The Estate Old Vine 2010, it's so smooth, it almost feels like a sin.
On the way home we decided to take a detour into Forest Grove and taste a bit more at Montenore. Having a wine and popcorn pairing was fun, and the wines were delicious. Our favorite part however was venturing into the vineyard for a photo sesh...haha here are some of the snapshots!
